About This Group

This is an educational workshop on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for social anxiety. This workshop will focus on defining and understanding social anxiety. Participants will gain an understanding of how social anxiety develops, and the various components that tend to maintain or increase it over time. A variety of treatment modalities and self -help strategies will be discussed. Participants will leave the workshop understanding that they are not alone and understanding that there are effective and powerful treatments that can enable people to overcome the often debilitating effects of social anxiety. This workshop is for anyone 18 and older who has difficulty with or knows someone who has anxiety or discomfort when socializing, meeting new people, being assertive, speaking in public or in groups, being assertive, feeling self-conscious, or fears judgment or rejection during social interactions. Participants are free to interact or have questions as much or as little as they prefer in this workshop.

Clinical Psychologist

Robert Yeilding, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist who specializes in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a practical and evidence-based treatment, for anxiety and mood disorders. One of Dr. Yeilding’s passions is the CBT for Social Anxiety group he facilitates at the Anxiety and Depression Center in Newport Beach, CA, now adapted to a virtual group. Dr. Yeilding received his BA in Psychology from UCLA and went on to earn his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. He is a diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. He serves as a board member for the National Social Anxiety Center (NSAC).
